Yin and Yang

When people see things as beautiful,
ugliness is created.
When people see things as good,
evil is created.

Being and non-being produce each other.
Difficult and easy complement each other.
Long and short define each other.
High and low oppose each other.
Fore and aft follow each other.

Yin Yang illustrated from the Tao Te Ching

Yin and Yang are two halves that together complete wholeness. When something is whole, it is unchanging and complete. So when you split something into two halves (yin and yang), it messes up the balance of wholeness. Then both halves start chasing after each other as they seek a new balance with each other.

The word Yin represents the “shady side” and Yang the “sunny side”.

Yin Yang is the concept of duality forming a whole. We find examples of Yin and Yang every day: night (Yin) and day (Yang), female (Yin) and male (Yang), weakness and strength, cold and heat, moon and sun. Yin is represented by the color black and yang by the color white. It is important to point out that Yin and yang have no moral significance between good and bad.
